My First Article

A few blog posts back, I was in a world of excitement because I’d officially gotten my first article okayed to be published under my writing pseudonym – which is no small thing in my minute little world of hopes and dreams.

Somehow I’d convinced an editor that one of my pitches was worthy of being in a book and, I’m thankful to say, it is now official. That’s not to say it was an easy process, by any means, and in fact, I did run into a few snags. Those snags being my overwhelming lack of confidence in my own abilities when it came to writing my first article under my pseudonym.

Logically, I knew I was more than capable of interviewing two amazing artists but, as we all know, logic doesn’t always act like the star of the show when it comes to writing. After years of writing non-fiction articles, it suddenly seemed as if I was a novice who knew nothing about know-how.

You could say I was kind of, sort of, beyond intimidated.

Thankfully my editor overlooked my crazed state and still seemed to be excited about my pitch. In fact, she encouraged me and fed my ego with a few confidence boosts here and there. So much so, that I was somehow able to pull off a pretty great article about artists and how they market their brands.

My First Article

Emily Coleman and Jean Haines were fabulous artists and authors to work with and were more than willing to sit down and interview with little ole me for my first article in Artist’s & Graphic Designer’s Market 2017. I cannot express my appreciation enough to these two artistic geniuses but I can say that I learned so much about them and their creative processes through our time together.

As an interviewer, I was eager to ask all the questions that I knew that I, as a reader, would want to know. With much patience and incredible energy, both ladies went above and beyond answering all of my questions as thoroughly as possible. By the end, we’d covered everything from artistic processes, catering to specific audiences, self marketing, business to business market, accessibility, social media, and so much more – it was a huge success!

So, if you haven’t already, please take a quick look at my first article and learn more about these amazing authors in the process!

Who knows, you might even leave with a new trick or two.

    1. Thanks Milly! Hopefully, one day, I’ll be getting my fiction published but I’m very happy to call this my first step. It looks like you’re a pretty active writer yourself – it’s always so exciting to see what other writers are up to!

      1. I’d love to have my fiction published one day too ☺
I have to admit, I love snooping around other writers blogs to see what they’re up to! It’s always interesting
